On May 19, at approximately 6:50 P.M., Holbrook Regional Communications received a 911 call reporting a fire in a detached garage that threatened nearby exposures. Engine 2, Ladder 1, Engine 4, Car 1, and Car 2 responded. The first arriving Engine found the garage fully engulfed in flames. The nearby exposures included two carports and a camper. Due to the intensity of the fire, the proximity of the exposures, and the presence of three propane tanks that were venting gas, firefighters deployed three hose lines to contain the fire. The crews worked for about two hours.
There were no injuries.
The Fire was caused by an unattended recreational fire and has been determined to be accidental.
The Mattapoisett Fire Department responded to provide mutual aid.
