Fairhaven Police Commends Off Duty Officers for Their Life-Saving Actions.

The Fairhaven Police would like to commend Off- Duty Rochester Police Officer Daniel Allende and retired UMass Dartmouth Police Officer Ernest Belliveau for their life-saving actions Wednesday afternoon.

At 3:33 PM, an elderly Acushnet resident, suffered an apparent medical emergency while driving and crashed her vehicle into a pole on Main Street in Fairhaven. Both officers witnessed this and quickly sprung to action. Retired Officer Belliveau found the female unconscious and smashed the vehicles window to gain access. After realizing the female was not breathing and had no pulse the officers quickly began CPR until Fairhaven Medics arrived to continue life saving efforts. Under care from the Fairhaven Medics the female eventually regained a pulse and is currently in ICU at a local hospital.

Thank you to Officer Allende, Officer Belliveau, and the Fairhaven Medics for a job well done. The quick action by all of these amazing first responders has made a difference.

The Fairhaven Fire Department would also like to commend these officers. This highlights the importance of bystander CPR and its relation to advanced life support. Please take the time to learn CPR and watch this quick video from the American Heart Association.
