The Chief has reauthorized recreational fires in accordance with 527 CMR 1. After reviewing information from the State Fire Marshal’s Office and engaging in discussions with District Fire Officials, we feel confident that, due to recent rains and cooler weather, it is now safe to permit recreational fires.
Chief Correia would like to remind all citizens to exercise caution when having open fires. Please do not use flammable liquids, and ensure that all combustible materials, including leaves, are kept away from the burning area.
Please note that we reserve the right to suspend open burning if weather conditions change or if we experience another drought.
